Connect

There are many ways to connect with other people at the TLT Sympsium...

Blogs at Penn State Blogs at Penn State: Share your thoughts.

Voices aggregates Blog posts by tag.

The Blogs at Penn State platform has grown to over 14,000 blogs. The blogs platform is very flexible and can be used for things like ePortfolios and course content development. If you haven't started your own blog yet, now may be the time.

  • Go to the Blogs at Penn State site and click the "Log in" button to set up your blog.
  • If you make blog posts about the Symposium, tag them with tltsym so they can be found through PSU Voices, our blog search engine.

Flickr Flickr: Share your photos.

Over the past four years, people attending the Symposium have been sharing their photos on Flickr, a free online photo sharing site. These photos capture the activity of the day and can serve as marketing materials for the next year's Symposium.

  • If you take pictures from this year's event or have ones from previous years, please upload them to Flickr and tag them with tltsym.
  • Join the TLT Event Images group in Flickr and add your photos to the group.

Twitter Twitter: What are you doing?

Twitter is a tool that people can use to provide short (140 character or less) updates about what they are doing, seeing, thinking, and learning from a computer or cell phone.

  • Through Twitter, the TLT Symposium will be sending updates, news, and alerts about blog posts that other people make that are tagged with tltsym.
  • If you use Twitter, make sure to follow the user TLTSymposium.
  • If you tweet about the Symposium, add #tltsym to the end of your update so other people can find it.

YouTube YouTube: Broadcast yourself.

For several years, the TLT Symposium has been recording video of its keynote speakers. Now, all of the videos since 2006 are available on YouTube, where they can be watched, rated, commented upon, shared, and embedded.

  • We will be recording our keynote presentation and the Digital Scholarship presentations and sharing them through the PSUTLT channel in YouTube
  • If you have videos related to the TLT Symposium, you can upload them to YouTube and tag them with tltsym.

Facebook Facebook: Become a fan.

In many ways, Facebook is used as an asynchronous meeting place that makes it easier to keep touch with a group of friends. Facebook serves as a way for us to keep you up to date with the latest Symposium announcements, but more importantly it lets you share what you are doing, seeing, and thinking with others who will be attending.

  • If you use facebook, go to the TLT Events page and become a fan.
  • Indicate that you will be attending the 2010 TLT Symposium.
  • Feel free to post your own photos, videos, and ideas.

Delicious Delicious: Discover, remember, and share.

At events like the TLT Symposium, we talk about a lot of web sites. It's hard to keep track of them or spell them the right way. Flicker or Flickr? UStream or YouStream? With Delicious, you can keep all of your bookmarks together, tag them, and see sites that other people have bookmarked.

  • On Delicious.com, look for the tag tltsym.
  • If you use Delicious to bookmark things, add the tltsym tag so others can find them.

RSS News Feed RSS: Subscribe and stay up to date.

There are a lot of tools in this page. While we don't expect you to connect through all of them, the easiest way to do so would be to subscribe to each tool's RSS feed.

  • If you're new to RSS, we recommend getting started with an online service like Google Reader. With Google Reader, you can keep track of any new items that have been posted such as a new blog entry, new photo, or new Twitter update.
