Tips for Blogging Your Symposium Experience

blogging

Here are some guidelines you can use when blogging about the symposium.

  • If you get the chance, read the session abstract before the session to familiarize yourself with the material.

  • Capture what jumps out at you as the key issue or theme that arises during the session. Don’t worry about capturing the minutia instead focus on what strikes you about the presentation.
  • Use links in your post to point the readers to key information referenced during the session.
  • Don’t worry about perfection. You are doing this live and on the fly. Mistakes and typos will occur and that is okay. You can always go back and fix the typos later.
  • Please use the following tags: '2008tltsymposium', the lead presenter's last name, and the appropriate Moo Sticker tags. For example, if I attend Brett Bixler's Second Life Panel Discussion I could tag is as follows: 2008tltsymposium, Bixler, Second Life, Virtual Wolrds, Social Networks. Also include any other tags you think appropriate.
  • Feel free to go back to your post later, after you’ve had time to reflect on the session, and elaborate on any key ideas and share any insights.

If we can get people to use tags ...

Dave, if we can get people to use the tag "tltsymposium2008" we should be able to aggregate all blogs posts together. Lots of people will be writing here at the Symposium site -- that'll be easy -- others will be using the blogs at Penn State and if they do the tag search feed out of the system will bring it all together. People out there on their own blogs can get into the stream by using the tag mentioned. We'll have a table in the second floor break room with the TLT Tag Team helping people understand the role of tagging for blog posts, photos, social bookmarks, and the like. I can't wait for the big day!

Other bloggers?

I am gearing up for what promises to be the best TLT Symposium ever. Thanks for the planning involved!

It will be interesting to see what people write about the 2008 Symposium. How do we find other blogs on this site? Is there a directory?
