Bryan Alexander

For the 2007 Symposium, Bryan Alexander was a featured speaker. Alexander is the director of the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education. In his position as director of NITLE as well as though his participation in the New Media Consortium and the Educause Learning Initiative, Alexander looks at the ways that emerging technologies can be used to create opportunities for innovative teaching and learning practice. His specific interest is in the intersection of social computing and mobile learning, which he addressed at the 2007 Symposium.

That year’s theme, “Social Computing and the Culture of Teaching and Learning,” put a spotlight on the impact of new tools such as blogs, wikis, podcasting, and tagging on the ways we communicate and learn. The Symposium acts as a showcase for many of these technologies, giving faculty the opportunity to experience them firsthand.
